Life in Time of Corona
We all refer today as ‘NEW NORMAL’. As the Coronavirus outbreak began and quickly became a Pandemic, each of us was forced to embrace a new norm. No one was spared. Our world was flipped upside-down.
Suddenly, our travel goals were put on hold, schools were closed. Social gatherings and movements were limited. Cleaning supplies and disinfectants vanished from supermarket shelves. Companies closed and employees were sent to remotely work at home and the wearing mask has become a necessity for everybody.
Our definition of safety and security changed as the numbers of infected people around the globe rise every day and mortality out speed the number of recoveries. We were all challenged physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Nevertheless, let us not give up.
While the government leaders are doing their best to keep the pandemic bearable for everyone, we must do our share to prevent its spread. Let’s consider the basics for keeping ourselves and families safe at work and home:
Hand washing for 20 seconds and the use of alcohols and sanitizers
Stay at home and only go out to work; to buy food and medicines.
Daily self-assessment for early signs and symptoms;
Follow government health guidelines and protocols;
Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Pray. Keep the faith.
We heal as one. All for one, and one for all.
While we can only hope for one that this pandemic will be over soon and somehow we can all resume our normal lives. That miraculously this virus will be gone as quickly as it spread. Or perhaps, we may never be able to return to what we used to be and things will never be the same again. We can only pray for the better. But let us not forget the challenges and lessons that this pandemic has taught us and look forward to what this “new normal” has in store for us. Let’s keep doing our share to lighten the burden. Let us all heal as one. | via Gemma Lyn Almonte, RN
